Resolution in Support of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NAARPR)

Communist Party of Indiana, CPUSA

Membership Meeting 28 March 2021

Topic: Organizing Against Racist and Political Repression in Indiana in the Face of IN General Assembly Attacks on Democracy and Local Self-Determination of Black and Working People and of the ongoing organizing efforts of racist groups like the KKK in the State of IN

To Membership of the Communist Party of Indiana, CPUSA,

Whereas the Constitution of the Communist Party states: “Our bedrock principles include the leading role of the working class in the struggle for social change; that working class unity is essential, and the fight against racism and for immigrant rights are essential to build that unity.”

Whereas the struggles of all people of color and workers demands resolute, mass struggle against racist and political repression; and

Whereas the racist, Republican controlled, Indiana General Assembly is following an anti-democratic path to disenfranchise Black and working people of Marion County, S. Bend, Gary, and other areas with larger populations of people of color; and

Whereas racist anti-democratic groups like the KKK are actively organizing across Indiana; and

Whereas the death of Black people at the hands of the police, such as the March 13, 2020 death of Breonna Taylor and subsequent trial of only one of the police officers involved, Brett Hankison, exemplifies the on ongoing, heinous racism of the police nationally, resulting in a series of deaths at the hands of the police that must end, and pointing out the need for community control of the police; and

Whereas the Communist Party of Indiana, CPUSA is an action oriented political party committed to the struggle against racism everywhere in Indiana;

Therefore do we now resolve to

  1. Support the work of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NAARPR) everywhere we can in Indiana; and pledge
  2. To hold an Zoom event in June, 2021 to which we invite a representative from the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression to speak, as well as inviting participation of a wide range of unions, organizations and individuals for a discussion on organizing to fight the racist attack and accompanying repression by the General Assembly on people of color, and especially Black people and Black women; and
  3. Organize to stop the spread of racist ideology such as the KKK puts forth.

Presented to the members of the Communist Party of Indiana, CPUSA on the 28th Day of March, 2021 at the regularly scheduled membership meeting.

Adopted by unanimous assent by the body 3/28/2021.
